Belle by Sigerson Morrison Shearling Suede Boots, $450 via Net-a-Porter.

Fur. Fur is hard, you guys. If you needed any proof of that, the current crop of fur bags and boots that have sprouted up online for Fall 2011 pre-orders should do just fine. Designers who are normally more than competent somehow become absolute amateurs when fur is involved, which makes the Belle by Sigerson Morrison Shearling Suede Boots even more impressive than they already would be. Granted, shearling is one of the more accessory-friendly kinds of fur, but the designers of this shoe shouldn’t be docked any points for being savvy enough to choose shoe-appropriate materials.

Belle by Sigerson Morrison Asymmetric Strap Suede Pumps, $275 via Net-a-Porter

While taking a rather lengthy walk with a friend around the Lower East Side Friday night, I noticed that she was wearing wedges. I asked her if her feet were bothering her because we had walked a significant distance at that point, and she said that after the shoes she was required to wear to work, wedges were a snap. Because I work from home and am mostly ignorant to the expectations of a conservative office, I asked her why heels were expected in a city where everyone walks. She said that if she wore flats, she got dirty looks from the other women in the office.

Never mind that I can’t understand why anyone would take an interest in a coworker’s shoes unless they were just too fabulous to ignore; I tried to put myself in her position and figure out what shoes I’d wear to the office if I had to do a lot of walking during the day but also had to have an office-mandated heel. The answer? Something like the Belle by Sigerson Morrison Asymmetric Strap Suede Pumps.

Every season, there’s one designer that transfixes me above all others. For fall handbags, it’s Celine this year, and Sigerson Morrison has won my love for its bold, wearable fall shoes.

I’ve written about several other options from the brand in the past month, and the Sigerson Morrison Fold-Over Suede Ankle Boots are my latest obsession from the brand that can do no wrong in my eyes at the moment.

Sigerson Morrison is a brand whose shoes have been widely available for a while now, but I can’t remember a season in the past when its offerings seemed quite so…covetable. Not everyone agreed with me about how much I loved the Sigerson Morrison Calf Hair Booties, but I have a feeling that the Sigerson Morrison Two Piece Buckled Suede Pumps will be a much more roundly enjoyed pair of shoes.

There’s just so much to love about them. Bright suede is a big trend right now, of course, and most women can’t resist a good red shoe. This one’s made even better by the fact that it’s not six inches tall and you might even be able to wear it for a few hours without wanting to cut your feet off at the ankle.

Not long ago, I made fun of a bag over at PurseBlog Savvy because it looked like the designer had skinned a horse in order to make it. Well, I’m about to eat my words, but since I’m doing so over a pair of delightfully unique booties, I’m ok with it.

The Sigerson Morrison Calf Hair Booties are a little bit cowgirl, sure, but they’re helped tremendously by a stark color palette and clean, modern lines. If you’re still going to make fun of me for liking them, please, be gentle.
