You may not heard of Schutz Shoes quite yet, but if you like affordable footwear that doesn’t exactly look affordable, you’re going to want to take note of the Brazilian shoe brand’s arrival in the United States. The brand opened its first store outside of South America on Madison Avenue in New York City late last year, and for spring, Schutz has become available at stores like ShopBop and Zappos. Read More…
During my adolescence, I never tanned well enough to use the “tan tattoo” stickers that the popular girls in school used to make shapes on themselves in the sun on spring break. The most popular ones that I can remember were palm trees and Playboy’s bunny logo – you stuck them on yourself, went tanning, and hours later, peeled them off to reveal a pale shape on your skin that would remain until you tanned over it. Here’s billionaire British heiress Tamara Ecclestone, wearing Christian Louboutin Pigalle Pumps in what looks to be alligator. We can’t find any record that alligator Pigalles of this variety even exist, but it’s likely they may have been custom-made by Louboutin for Ecclestone, who is something a super-customer for the brand. Regular ol’ CL customers like you and I can buy these similarly exotic Python Pigalles for $1,195 at Barneys. Read More…
Before we get into the awesome Spring 2013 Coach Online Shoe Closet, I have to ask – do you own any Coach shoes? If not, I’d highly recommend the brand’s footwear, even if you don’t like its bags. I have multiple pairs of Coach boots that I’ve worn year after year, including a pair of summer sandals that I’ve worn almost religiously since I graduated college. Read More…
Not acceptable.
See, this is the type of thing that I get worried about when trends like hidden-wedge sneakers get really popular. Hidden heels are exactly the kind of element that some well-intentioned designer will likely re-appropriate to disastrous effect, and that’s exactly what we’ve got with the Giuseppe Zanotti Hidden Heel Cowboy Boots: a disaster.
It’s not hard to see what’s happened here. Read More…
Jessica Paré wore a gorgeous, brightly hued floral Prabal Garung dress and Casadei for Prabal Garung Pre-Fall 2013 Platform Pumps to the Season Six premiere of Mad Men in L.A. I love Jessica’s pumps almost as much as I loved her 1960′s mod wardrobe from the last season of Mad Men. That combination of black see-through mesh, rounded white toe, chunky heel, and thick ankle strap gives them a seriously retro vibe. Read More…
I know, I know, it’s spring. I shouldn’t be obsessed with a pair of Acne Pistol Booties right now, and yet I am. As much as I’ve been writing about spring shopping lately (and trying to will myself into doing a little bit of my own), I have this weird bootie obsession that’s left over from late winter and seems to be going nowhere. Creating a hit shoe requires some good design, good timing and a bit of alchemy. If you miss any of those three things, sorry – better luck next time. Rarely do all three convene, but for the Charlotte Olympia Kitty Velvet Slippers, they did. The success of the design only continues to grow, and although it might seem like a novelty shoe at first blush, with a bit of examination, it’s not hard to divine exactly why these shoes keep coming back, season after season, to complete the collections of eager customers.
