Did you take one look at these Christian Louboutin Point Shoe Stilettos and immediately think, “Whoa, high-end fetish gear?” If you did, you spend far too much time on the Internet, just like I do. And although these shoes do look an awful lot like the bondage shoes featured on sites less family-friendly than this one, these Louboutins are for a much more high-brow purpose: to benefit the English National Ballet. Kate Spade is a brand with a very specific identity: It makes girly things things that appeal to adult women, and it generally manages to do so without being too precious or saccharine. The company’s last few collections have been particularly successful, and Kate Spade Resort 2012 has debuted to keep the good times rolling.

And roll they do; although there are one or two missteps here that I’m sure you can identify without my help, the pumps and flats are feminine perfection in candy colored satin and patent (not to mention multihued glitter.) Shoes like that have always been Spade’s strong suit, and the company is only getting stronger. Read More…

Shoe Freak by mjs538

I can’t really explain all of this, except to say that Coco is a brand new reality TV star, Internet model of the decidedly more risque variety (famous for her giant derriere) and wife of rapper Ice-T. She’s a big fan of stilettos, the higher the better, and she once tweeted some photos of her shoe closet that we got a mighty big kick out of. Read More…

Giuseppe Zanotti Scorpion Sandals, $1745 via Net-a-Porter

Before we continue with this post, I have a bone to pick with Net-a-Porter about the Giuseppe Zanotti Scorpion Sandals: They are clearly not a scorpion of any kind. That bug has eight legs, no stinger and a two-section body. It’s a spider! Scorpions have giant stingers and bodies with lots of sections, and they don’t look anything like spiders. Read More…

Marni Embellished Suede Platforms, $1160 via Net-a-Porter

I remember my first pair of high heels very clearly. I was 12 years old, and my mother reluctantly bought them for me to go with the black dress I had picked out to wear to a friend’s bat mitzvah. They were Nine West, and the tall, chunky heel seemed like the most sophisticated thing in the world to me. Read More…

Prada Fur Wedge Boots, $780 via Saks. Miu Miu Mongolian Fur Boots, $750 via Saks.

Ladies, in geeky Internet parlance, I am disappoint. I’ve made two things clear over and over again: I love Prada and Miu Miu shoes above almost all others, and I hate Yeti fur boots. And now, in what feels like a personal attempt by Miuccia Prada to break my shoe-loving heart, both of her brands have introduced exactly the type of furry footwear that I despise. Read More…

Although I was somewhat ambivalent about Reed Krakoff’s Spring 2011 shoe collection, I’m a big fan of what the Coach president has coming for Fall 2012 and, as it turns out, an even bigger fan of Reed Krakoff Resort 2012. This group of shoes has the most high-end editorial feel of any of Krakoff’s footwear to date, not to mention that a lot of it is very wearable. Read More…

Belle by Sigerson Morrison Shearling Suede Boots, $450 via Net-a-Porter.

Fur. Fur is hard, you guys. If you needed any proof of that, the current crop of fur bags and boots that have sprouted up online for Fall 2011 pre-orders should do just fine. Designers who are normally more than competent somehow become absolute amateurs when fur is involved, which makes the Belle by Sigerson Morrison Shearling Suede Boots even more impressive than they already would be.
