In almost all cases, I think that fur-covered shoes and handbags look entirely silly and more than a little fashion-victim-y. That’s not to say that the look can’t be worked, of course, but it just usually isn’t. Most fur accessories are too puffy and shapeless to do a design any justice, and most designer seem to be unable to figure out a course of action with the material that doesn’t involve entirely covering whatever it is they’re trying to make. Belle by Sigerson Morrison Asymmetric Strap Suede Pumps, $275 via Net-a-Porter

While taking a rather lengthy walk with a friend around the Lower East Side Friday night, I noticed that she was wearing wedges. I asked her if her feet were bothering her because we had walked a significant distance at that point, and she said that after the shoes she was required to wear to work, wedges were a snap. Even if you’re done with the Yves Saint Laurent Tributes, as a shoe lover, it’s impossible to gloss over the place that they’ve had in footwear culture over the past few years. I remember when they first came out and the media was abuzz with over what was at the time an absolutely ridiculous platform and heel height, and since their inception (and because of their wild popularity), our feet endured almost five years of five-inch heels and heavy platforms. Giuseppe Zanotti Asymmetrical Eel Pumps, $595 via Net-a-Porter.

You guys know how this works – finish the phrase above in the comments or, if you’re so inclined, by the boots for $1825 via Luisa Via Roma. Read More…

Christian Louboutin 8 Mignon Sandals, $1195 via Christian Louboutin.

Ladies, it’s been a long, busy, hot week in New York City. I’m going to sleep like a baby this weekend. Hell, I could sleep like a baby right now, if only I had the option. After a week of stress and activity, there are only two things I really, really want for a successful weekend: a bourbon cocktail and a great pair of shoes. Read More…

It’s not boot season yet, but boots cause such a conundrum for so many women every year that we might as well start discussing them now. Because they are dependent on several parts of the body all being within a certain size range (unlike regular shoes, which only need to fit your feet), finding a pair of perfect boots can be a task fraught with difficulty that’s not necessarily connoted by the phrase “shoe shopping.”

We already know that Style.com has declared the closed-toe pump the shoe that you must add to your wardrobe immediately, but we’d like to get a little more specific – brightly colored suede is the only way to go. (Ok, not the only way, but it’s the best way for summer). The texture of suede gives colors a rich and vibrant pop that regular leather rarely allows, and these shades are bold enough to summerize a shape and material that is usually associated with cooler weather.
