On Black Friday, we listed our best buys from the always-amazing Net-a-Porter seasonal sale. Naturally, things sell out quickly, but the best part about the Net-a-Porter sale is that it gets new items (and still-available items get reductions) every week like clockwork. Yesterday, a brand new crop of shoes showed up for our shopping pleasure, some at dazzling discounts, and we’ve got our choice for the 10 you might want to snag before they sell out, after the jump. It’s very difficult to find Look for Less options for Charlotte Olympia’s stellar lineup of platforms and smoking flats; almost all of designer Charlotte Delal’s pieces are embellished with enough signature quirk that it takes most mid-range comparisons off the table. That’s why I was so excited to see the Marc by Marc Jacobs Cherry Embellished Suede Sandals; they’re not a total dead ringer, but the look is very similar to that of the Charlotte Olympia Arlena Cameo Sandals. The man behind the heelless shoes that Lady Gaga made famous, Noritake Tatehana, has had a pretty good year as far as things go for avant garde shoe designers. To say that Tatehana’s footwear is “taste-specific” is perhaps far too general; he makes shoes for the Lady Gagas and Daphne Guinnesses of the world, and almost no one else. Read More…

Christian Louboutin Trash Platforms, $1395 via Neiman Marcus

I’ve always appreciated Christian Louboutin’s flair for the humorous. In the fashion world, so many designers and creative people are so self-serious that they take all of the fun out of what should be a joyful thing; after all, if we can’t enjoy ourselves while getting dressed, what hope do we have for the rest of the day? B Brian Atwood Strappy Cage Sandals, $400. B Brian Atwood Glitter Platforms, $350. Both via Neiman Marcus.

Although the B Brian Atwood Strappy Cage Sandals and B Brian Atwood Glitter Platform Pumps don’t technically have anything to do with each other (except for being from the same brand, obviously), it seemed like a good idea to combine them in a joint post, if only for expediency’s sake. Read More…

Mulberry Animal Print Calf Hair Pumps, $625 via Net-a-Porter

Prior to my years of service on the fashion Internet, I worked a job in a very conservative office. And by “conservative,” I don’t just mean suits and ties for dudes; I mean that I was obligated to wear pantyhose every day of my life, even in 100-degree Atlanta summers. Naturally, this office also had a very strict view on women’s footwear. Read More…

Whenever I see a particularly interesting or unique shoe, my mind automatically goes to which famous person would wear the shoe first. Imagining a design in someone’s wardrobe helps give it automatic context, and my styling ideas usually start from there.

Perhaps it’s unfair to say that only Kanye West could love the Maison Martin Margiela Metallic Flat Sneaker, but he’d certainly be the first celebrity or fashion person in line for them. Read More…

Alexander McQueen Sculpted Resin Platform Sandals: Were $3495, Now $1797.50 via Net-a-Porter

With shoe prices increasing at a seemingly unstoppable rate, sale season is perhaps now more highly anticipated than ever. For luxury shoppers, few things top Net-a-Porter’s twice-yearly sales for the sheer number of lustworthy shoe options they provide at slightly less untenable prices.

The only problem (if you can really even call it a problem) is that the sale includes 12 pages of shoes, most of which aren’t worth your consideration, either because they’re not cute enough or still not discounted enough for what they are. Read More…
