Oscar de la Renta Shoes

Oscar de la Renta’s mission is never to shock you. He doesn’t want to start new trends or flirt with the avant-garde; he just wants to make beautiful things that women love to wear. For Spring 2011 (and, let’s face it, every season before), I think that it’s safe to say that he accomplished his mission with considerable aplomb.

These aren’t shoes for downtown girls or Williamsburg hipsters. They’re for grown women, people whose spots in life are already secure and who want to look polished, ladylike and luxurious. Some of the show’s shoes were obscured by de la Renta’s signature ball gowns, but the ones the audience could see were beautiful in the most direct and traditional sense of the word.

A great hue of red on a sultry sandal adds a dose of sassy. I have never been a fan of true red on myself; not my lips, not my shoes, not my handbags, not my outfits. It is too red for my coloring. So I stick to hues of red, like deep and sexy as seen on these shoes. They call it maroon, but it looks more gorgeous than maroon.

The sleek addition to the Oscar de la Renta Grain-Effect Sandals is that the maroon coloring is completed with a wood-grain effect, appearing like a great cherry wood cabinet. The heel is 5 inches with a 1 inch platform. The strappy sandal only further amps up these shoes.
