Fashion Week Shoes: Nina Ricci Spring 2011
At the end of the day (or at the beginning, I suppose), no matter who you are or how much you love avant-garde fashion and flashy footwear, almost everyone needs a few pairs of shoes that can be worn to work. It’s generally not a glamorous design category, but those kinds of shoes tend to quietly sell very well while more fantastical shoes get all the attention.
The shoes from Nina Ricca Spring 2011 will likely find themselves with many potential buyers, even if they get looked over for editorial opportunities left and right. They’re largely neutral, stable, classic shoes with few gimmicks and even fewer flourishes, other than a few cellophane flowers affixed at the toe on the collection’s more adventurous moments. These shoes may not make anyone gasp, but they make up for it in functionality.
