Was that a Leanne Rimes song I just referenced? I think it was. I apologize for that. It’s for a good cause, though: blue is awesome and we should all wear more of it in all of its beautiful shades. Since we’re in the shoe business here, we recommend that you add more blue with shoes – maybe even blue suede shoes. Read More…
Even though Miu Miu’s Fall 2012 runway shoes have seriously grown on me since debuting on the runway back in February, they’re still the kind of shoes that are going to be a hard sell to a wide retail audience. Miu Miu’s business is predicated on heavy shoe and accessory sale volume (as is nearly every fashion brand’s), so that means adapting a difficult look in a wearable way is essential, even for someone who embraces weirdness as much as Miuccia Prada does. Here at Talkshoes, the Miu Miu Studded Suede Ankle Boots seem to be causing some friction between me and Megs. It was a typical day at the office: we are all gathered around the table, talking and trying to formulate our next posts while awaiting the anticipated tornado that was said to be coming for the Big Apple. As we were all fumbling on our computers, I come across these Miu Miu shoes and I say to the team: “Look at these clunky-looking things.” Megs then turned around and said, “Ah, I was just looking at those and I kinda like them.” So, our fashion battle begins… Read More…
By now, you guys have probably surmised a few things about me: I like a bold shoe, I love Miu Miu, I appreciate a well-executed glitter moment. The Miu Miu Glitter-Finished Leather Pumps combines all three of those things, and to great effect. The traditional shape and somewhat modest heel (only 3.5 inches, which sounds like a flat when you compare it to a lot of designer footwear) are offset by a stunning coat of blue-green glitter, creating a final product that’s pretty enough that I’ve been looking at pictures of these shoes all day. Miu Miu’s Fall 2012 runway shoes are a little more, uh, editorial than is perhaps wise for wear in everyday life, but remember, they’re runway shoes. They’re intended to set a mood for the rest of the collection’s items, which are the ones actually intended to do the bulk of the brand’s business for the season.
The shoes in that second group, like the Miu Miu Velvet Loafer Pumps, will likely be far more interesting to the average consumer. Read More…
Miu Miu has never struck me as a brand that’s particularly interested in world events, particularly those of the athletic variety; it just doesn’t quite jibe with the company’s extremely feminine, decidedly retro image. Despite that, Miu Miu has decided to release a limited edition line of bags, accessories and shoes in gold, silver and bronze to commemorate the 2012 London Olympics. Read More…
After closing out 2011 with runway glitter booties that had the whole fashion industry in their thrall for a solid six months or more, Miu Miu has had something of a weird 2012, footwear-wise. The brand’s off-the-runway offerings continue to impress (I bought two pairs this year myself), but when it comes to the brand’s most directional and high-profile footwear, things haven’t been quite so promising. I have something of an obsession with Miu Miu’s brogues. I just bought my second pair, a pink snake-embossed set to go with my patent leather, crystal-heeled purchase from earlier in the year. Not only are they the most comfortable shoes in my closet, but they’ve been a source of constant compliments, particularly the pair with a little bit of sparkle. Read More…
