Kate Spade 7 Kate Spade Resort 2012 is girly and glam, just as it should be

Kate Spade is a brand with a very specific identity: It makes girly things things that appeal to adult women, and it generally manages to do so without being too precious or saccharine. The company’s last few collections have been particularly successful, and Kate Spade Resort 2012 has debuted to keep the good times rolling.

And roll they do; although there are one or two missteps here that I’m sure you can identify without my help, the pumps and flats are feminine perfection in candy colored satin and patent (not to mention multihued glitter.) Shoes like that have always been Spade’s strong suit, and the company is only getting stronger.

Kate Spade Lourdes Slingbacks What could be more springlike than these Kate Spade slingbacks?Kate Spade Lourdes Slingbacks, $285 via Zappos.

Nothing, that’s what.

I’ve talked a bit over at PurseBlog about how Kate Spade has done such a great job of creating a very clear ideal woman since the brand hired some new creative talent several seasons back, and the Kate Spade Lourdes Slingbacks – are an extension of that woman. For the past month or two, I’ve had my eye on the Kate Spade Licorice Suede Pumps. They come in colors from red to purple to basic black, and I just knew that Kate Spade would eventually turn out a great spring bright that would instantly grab my attention. Does looking at a shoe without a platform throw anyone else off a little bit? Platforms have become so omnipresent that it’s not overly common to find a heel worth writing about that doesn’t have one, and when I do, I always have to adjust for a moment before I can really start deciding what I think about the design.

The Kate Spade Cybil Booties are certainly worthy of mention, and if you like their look, they present something of a perfect neutral-shoe option: they would look appropriate in either cold or warm weather, with pants or dresses, and even in the workplace. Plus, since the heel clocks in at a bit less than four inches, you might actually be able to spend a day in them without cursing your poor decision-making skills.

Despite the fact that my personal style tends to skew modern and a bit edgy, there’s still a girl inside of me that loves things that are obviously pretty. When I watch Gossip Girl, I find myself more intrigued by Blair’s outfits than anyone else’s, despite the fact that they’re usually clothes I wouldn’t choose for myself.

The Kate Spade Graham T-Strap Pumps are one such item that gets my inner girly-girl all in a tizzy. These shoes are classic Upper East Side glamour – they’re tailored and precise with a 1950s femininity that feels fresh among the platform work boots of 2010.
