I piled on to Joe’s Jeans pretty hard last week over a wedged boat shoe, and I still think the brand deserved it. Now, though, they’ve come out with something to distract me from past footwear blasphemy on their part: the Joe’s Jeans Princess Suede Wedge.

This shoe skews very contemporary and will likely appeal to a very particular subset of consumers, of which I am definitely a part. Sandals are a hard sell when temperatures turn colder, but a generous helping of draped suede set against a black heel has me utterly unconcerned about approached weather issues.

I, for one, really like fall’s trend for high-end, high-heeled work boots. The category gives designers a lot of aesthetic inspiration from which to draw, and it allows for the use of a variety of materials, sometimes all on one shoe. Plus, most of the work-boot interpretations aren’t terribly literal, which goes a long way toward ensuring that they look and feel luxurious.

The Joe’s Jeans Upbeat Boat Wedges, on the other hand? I’m downright angry that they even exist. Not only are they ugly, but they’re not even season-appropriate. Didn’t summer just unofficially end?
