We don’t talk much of toe cleavage around here, but it indeed seems to be a controversial issue in the footwear world. Some women love it, some hate it and still others are confused about exactly how much is too much. If you’re a member of one of the last two groups I mentioned, steer clear of the Edmundo Castillo Pointed Toe pumps.

On the other hand, if you like showing a little bit of toe with your pumps, these could be your new favorite shoes. Instead of rounding off somewhere in the area where the toes join the rest of your foot, this pump’s opening dips down to mirror the shape of its pointed toe, exposing more of your little piggies than most similar shoes make possible.

When using exotic skins, the worst thing that a designer can do is try and work against the natural color, texture and pattern of the skin. The reason that exotics appeal to people is because their natural attributes make them special above and beyond regular leather, and if I’m going to be able to justify the price to myself, then I need to be able to see those attributes in all their glory.

Thankfully, the Edmundo Castillo Snakeskin and Suede Sandals use the skin’s natural pattern to their aesthetic advantage, accenting it with plush black suede for maximum effect. I’m not familiar with Castillo’s work, but if the rest of it is like this, my personal ignorance won’t last for long.
