99% of the time, I find myself thinking, “He’s done it again!” when I see a new Christian Louboutin shoe that I’ve never encountered before. Even if it’s a shoe that I wouldn’t want to wear myself, Louboutin does a great job lending a boldness and irreverence to his designs that make them hard to review negatively, even if they don’t suit my personal style. There’s just something about a metal heel, man.

I don’t know if it’s the undeniable, aggressive modernity or the resemblance to some sort of deadly weapon or tool of torture or just the textural contrast that it adds to whatever material makes up the rest of the shoe, but metal heels are a design trick I can’t resist (not that I ever try, because I don’t). Hat tip to our compatriots over at Jezebel for noticing a blatant knockoff in our midst – Jessica Simpson‘s uber successful low-priced shoe line has apparently taken quite a shine to the Christian Louboutin Straratata Pump, originally released in 2010. As Jezebel’s Jenna Sauers points out, the shoes aren’t just any “inspired” version – the Jessica Simpson Evangela Sandals take the shoe detail for detail, down to the suede-covered buckle, omitting only the red sole. One thing you’ll probably notice quickly about the first shoes to emerge from the Christian Louboutin Fall 2012 collection is the near-total lack of platforms. Louboutin loves to give a shoe a little (or a lot of) extra height by raising the entire thing by an inch or two, but in these early released, only one shoe sports a modest platform. Read More…

Yowza. How’re these for a Friday? I don’t think that I could stand in the six-and-a-half-inch-heeled Christian Louboutin 20th Anniversary Isolde Platforms, but they sure are interesting to look at. As you probably have heard by now, this year marks Christian Louboutin’s 20th year revolutionizing the footwear industry, and to celebrate, Louboutin has just released a capsule collection of shoes that recall some of his most famous shoes from the previous two decades. Well, it’s harder to be any more blunt about the Christian Louboutin Sex Pumps than the name of the shoes already suggests; like Louboutins that have previously spelled “love” across the toes when the wearer’s feet are held together, this pair spells out…sex. There’s no non-literal way to describe what these pumps are, at least not that I can think of. Read More…

If Christian Louboutin’s fashion week shoes are an indicator of what we can expect for the shoe master’s Fall 2012 collection at large, then get ready for lots of texture. Christian Louboutin for Jonathan Saunders Fall 2012, like Louboutin’s collection for Mary Katrantzou before it, is heavy on calfhair and suede. While Katrantzou’s shoes tended toward brights, though, this set of Louboutins is much more jewel-toned. Read More…

The shoes that Christian Louboutin provides for Mary Katrantzou’s runway collections every season seem to often end up produced at part of Louboutin’s standard line (which is more than I can say for much of Louboutin’s excellent work with Jonathan Saunders, sadly), so let’s take a look at Christian Louboutin x Mary Katrantzou Fall 2012, shall we?
