Christian Louboutin Sequined Bianca Pumps, $695 via Net-a-Porter

Party shoes, by their very nature, are the best shoes. When the mood (and your ensemble) is festive, embellishments on accessories tend to be even more pronounced than they usually are; bring on the glitter, the rhinestones, the special finishes! Or, in the case of the Christian Louboutin Sequined Bianca Pumps, bring on the SEQUINS. Lots of ‘em. More than should really fit on a shoe. We’ll make room!

Much has been said on the Internet about Barneys exceptionally cool windows celebrating Christian Louboutin’s 20th year in business, but it’s been hard to find images to share that do the mechanical displays any kind of justice; sometimes things that are a marvel of set design in person don’t translate easily to a flat image Finally, Julia Chesky at Modelizing.us has given us some pictures worth sharing.

We have a couple more after the jump or you can check out Chesky’s full photo set on her blog, but I’d encourage you to see these windows in person if you’re in or around New York. The scale of movement is really fascinating, as are how lifelike the legs are when seen with your own eyes. They were molded off of a live model, which is probably why they’re so creepily perfect.

Today, I have the distinct pleasure of bringing you a few very special pictures. Megs, Vladi and I were lucky enough to be invited to celebrate the release of Christian Louboutin’s eponymous new 20th anniversary book at the Barneys New York flagship store on Tuesday night, and Vladi managed to sneak a few pictures during the event. The party was hosted by a slew of celebrities and fashion A-listers, including Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Blake Lively and Mr. Louboutin himself, who signed books for lucky party-goers.

We have party pictures after the jump, plus information on how to buy the limited edition 20th anniversary shoes that go along with the book’s release! You can order the book through Amazon for $94.50.

Louboutin addicts are among the most dedicated fashion fans on the planet, so I have no doubt that this custom-made Christian Louboutin bar will bring in tons of money for charity when it’s sold this weekend at the Grey Goose Winter Ball in London. All proceeds from the Louboutin-designed bar will benefit the Elton John AIDS Foundation, so if you have a big space in your house that’s just aching for a fashion-themed bar, I suggest you contact the PR people for the event and get yourself on the guest list.

Christian Louboutin Duvette Pumps, $675 via Net-a-Porter

Even people who aren’t big Louboutin fans (if those people really do exist, which they might not) have to admit that the designer does an impeccable job of setting a mood. Even with a relatively simple shoe like the Christian Louboutin Duvette Pumps, Louboutin expertly transports us to whatever era he desires, and this one’s a couple decades gone.

Christian Louboutin Enclume Platform Oxfords, $1145 via Net-a-Porter

If you’ve been following along here with us for a while, you might remember that our ecstatic post about the Christian Louboutin x Jonathan Saunders Fall 2011 collection when it debuted at London Fashion Week last season. Thankfully, many of the runway shoes that Louboutin makes for other designers find their way to retail in his own line, and that’s exactly what has happened with the Christian Louboutin Enclume Platform Oxfords.

Christian Louboutin New Simple Botta 120 Boots, $1395 via Net-a-Porter

I’ve always said that when it comes to design, sometimes doing the simple things is more difficult than tackling the complicated. When we’re talking about a shoe or boot variety that’s supposed to be a closet staple, not only is differentiating yourself from the crowd of competitors difficult, but so is sticking within the bounds of what customers want and expect from a shoe that will clock major mileage.

When you add that to the fact that most closet staples are simple and sleek, which means that aren’t forgiving of sloppy design or construction, problems can crop up for lesser designers. The Christian Louboutin New Simple Botta 120 Boots, obviously, are a shining example of the exact opposite – when a designer takes on a shoe we’ve all seen before and still hits it out of the park.

One of my very favorite parts of ever season’s runway shows is getting to see how the venerable Christian Louboutin collaborates with small or independent designers to create signature shoes for their runway shows. As we’ve discussed previously, many young or indie labels don’t have the design experience or manufacturing capabilities to create their own shoes, so a number of shoe companies step in every season to help them out, and Louboutin is among that group.

Christian Louboutin x Mary Katrantzou Spring 2012 includes lots of variations on two basic themes: First, a clear-strapped sandal dotted with colorful spikes atop a mirror-patent heel, which from a distance, gives the visual of the spikes comes straight out of the foot. The second option is a strappy Mary Jane that often combines mirrored patent and python for a mix of serious and sassy that works out to be more wearable than you’d think, and both shoes present fun spins on the Louboutin details that we all know and love.

TalkShoes people! It’s been so long! And we’re skipping straight to Jonathan Saunders Spring 2012, which is a London collection! Don’t worry, we’re going to be going back and fill in all of the New York Fashion Week blanks for you this week, but I can’t help but start things off with my favorite collection of the season so far. How do you beat a line of colorful espadrilles when it comes to spring shoes?

Saunders and Louboutin have long been a footwear match made in heaven; their collaboration last year for Saunders’ runway held one of my very favorite pairs of the season, and it’s going to be difficult to beat these shoes as well. I certainly didn’t see anything in New York that I liked as much. Check out our gallery, after the jump.

Christian Louboutin Dufferin Loafers, $1295 via Net-a-Porter

Looking back, it’s amazing how footwear options for women have exploded in just the past couple of years. First we saw the advent of the mega platform, and then chunky heels caught up with their stiletto counterparts, and now it’s also cool to wear non-platform shoes. And that’s just the heels – could you have seen yourself in oxfords, brogues or loafers five years ago?

I’m betting that most of us couldn’t. In fact, I remember seeing a pair of oxfords on Net-a-Porter around that time and wondering what woman would wear them. Sure enough, they were on the sale page quickly. But now oxfords are a regular part of the fashion industry’s shoe rotation, and loafers like the Christian Louboutin Dufferin are regarded as the big new thing.
