Fashion Week Shoes: Calvin Klein Spring 2011
Runway shoes usually follow a pretty distinct pattern – the designer picks a couple of silhouettes, almost always featuring a high heel, and creates enough variations on those ideas to outfit all of the models in the show. It’s a tried-and-true formula for success and cohesion, and not many designers stray from it in any meaningful way.
Francisco Costa did just that for Calvin Klein Spring 2011, and he did it with considerable success. The designer created footwear for the Calvin Klein girl in virtually every part of her daily life, all the way from the office to the beach (and every gallery opening, nightclub and brunch in between). These shoes don’t just constitute a collection – they’re actually more of a wardrobe.
