Brian Atwood Alima Colorblock Neon Pumps, $795 via Net-a-Porter

We’ve already discussed how excited Brian Atwood apparently is for warm weather to come back around, and if you doubted his enthusiasm for even a split second, the Brian Atwood Alima Colorblock Neon Pumps should nip that in the bud immediately. They may not come with their own personal straw hats like his last pair of sandals, but this design does come with enough eye-searing neon to melt any snow on the ground around your feet on contact.

Brian Atwood is ready for a summer party

Brian Atwood Mojito Sandals, $1452 via Bergdorf Goodman

It’s not even February yet, but that doesn’t stop designers from rushing their pieces to retail to get us salivating for the new season (and new shoes, of course). Brian Atwood’s footwear is always known for its exuberance and joie de vivre, so early (very early) spring is often when his shoes look most appropriate; they reflect the internal mindsets of all of us, impatiently anticipating the arrival of sun and fun.

Even the name of the Brian Atwood Mojito Sandals makes me want to put on some sunscreen and head outside. Unfortunately, I’d have to do put on a wool coat over my sunscreen, but a girl can dream. It’ll be spring before we know it, right?

B Brian Atwood Strappy Cage Sandals, $400. B Brian Atwood Glitter Platforms, $350. Both via Neiman Marcus.

Although the B Brian Atwood Strappy Cage Sandals and B Brian Atwood Glitter Platform Pumps don’t technically have anything to do with each other (except for being from the same brand, obviously), it seemed like a good idea to combine them in a joint post, if only for expediency’s sake. I feel like I’m going to be harping on how much I love this new diffusion line early and often for the foreseeable future, so doubling up the number of shoes per post just seems like good logic.

Brian Atwood Spring 2012 is smokin’ hot!

by

Images via Style.com

In the past, every Brian Atwood collection has brought with it a few gasps of delight, a few grunts of disapproval and a few furrowed brows of confusion. I may not love every shoe he puts out, but no one can argue that Atwood doesn’t pack each and every piece with a ton of personality; if more brands did that, we’d all be happier shoe lovers.

Luckily, this sampling of Atwood’s spring pieces bring only happiness to this shoe lover in particular. The bright colors and bold embellishments that are always indicative of Brian’s aesthetic are there, but they’re used in ways that seem a little more sophisticated than some of his previous efforts. Take a look at our preview, after the jump.

Brian Atwood Paramour High Heels Boots, $500 in red haircalf or $450 in burgundy suede. Both via ShopBop.

Diffusion lines are tricky. The price point has to be far enough away from the main line to draw two sets of different (but still similar) customers, but the look has to be luxurious enough to not cheap the mother brand by association. Somewhere in the middle, there’s a perfect balance, but few companies ever found it.

I’m not sure if Brian Atwood is quite there yet, but his B Brian Atwood line gets close. I’d knock the price point down just a tad, but shoes like the B Brian Atwood Paramour Booties, above in haircalf and suede, prove that the less expensive shoes don’t suffer for a lack of style. Just look how vibrant that red is!

Brian Atwood Embroidered Heel Pumps, $2114 via Bergdorf Goodman

It isn’t often that we feature a shoe shot from behind in a post, rather than shot from the front or side, but occasionally a design is so magnificent when viewed from the tail end that it requires a deviation from the norm. Ladies, I think you’ll all agree that the Brian Atwood Embroidered Heel Pump is one such shoe, and if you don’t, I suggest an emergency trip to the eye doctor. And possibly the psychiatrist. Check out the view from the front after the jump, and then let’s talk.

Brian Atwood Platform Pumps, $995 via Nordstrom

Or maybe it’s three trends in one? Pumps are supposed to be the new big shoe, after all.

Anyway, it’s at least two. Python is bigger than huge for fall, and bright accents have been an official accessories Thing for almost a full year. The Brian Atwood Python Platform Pumps (if you know their official name, let us know) manage to hit on both of those important looks and still be a great, wearable shoe at the same time.

B Brian Atwood Taurasa Ankle Boot, $550 via Saks

Who doesn’t love a diffusion line? Nobody, that’s who. Brian Atwood is a TalkShoes favorite, and he only stands to become even more beloved with the release of his lower-priced collection, B Brian Atwood. If there’s anything the shoe market needs, it’s more hotness that falls into the $600-or-less range.

With the exception of one boot that costs an inexplicable $995, that’s exactly what this line is. While these prices aren’t exactly “reasonable” – they were considered at or near the top of the marketplace only a handful of years ago – they are less back-breaking than the $795 basic pumps that have become de regueur from…well, you know the brands I’m talking about. Take a look at our picks from the inaugural line after the jump, or shop the whole collection via Saks.

Brian Atwood Blonski Suede Boots, $2070 via Net-a-Porter

I’m usually slow to use superlatives, particularly when a season has barely started, but I feel comfortable calling the Brian Atwood Bronski Studded Thigh-High Boots the sexiest boots we’re going to see this season, and perhaps the sexiest shoes, period. In fact, I’d challenge anyone to prove me wrong, because I bet you can’t.

Boots like these are sort of like pants in reverse – they come so close to crotch-grazing levels that you’re more or less totally covered, even if you’re wearing a mini dress. Except they’re so, so much cooler and vampier than suede pants, obviously.

It looks like it’s not just me, texture really is the biggest thing in footwear for Fall 2011. Exotic skins, fur, feathers, haircalf, glitter all of the above – get ready for a few months filled with shoes that look like something Cher would wear on her head. And I mean that in the nicest way possible, because we all know that I enjoy a crazy shoe.

And there’s no word besides “crazy” for the Brian Atwood Pazza Sandals, which is why they’re our Fill in the Blank for this week. When it’s extra hard, I make you guys come up with the words. Or if you like this design more than I do, you can skip straight to the buying phase of this whole process for $1450 via Neiman Marcus.
