The early 1990s are a time for which I have much nostalgia. I was just a kid, but it was during that time that I first became aware of music, entertainment, clothing – the whole lot of it. My fondness for Nirvana, plaid and chunky shoes has never abated, and when I laid eyes on these Michael Kors Leather Mary Jane Pumps, I was instantly transported back to being my eight-year-old self, wishing I were old enough to wear the shoes that all the awesome grownups wore. The great thing about trend revivals is that now I can! I can be one of those cool adults.

As far as styling these shoes, the ladies of the early 90s had it right – anything this heavy and clunky needs to be paired with something short, floaty and very feminine. (Grungy second-day eyeliner and hair optional.) Net-a-Porter chose to style them with pants and a coat, but I just don’t think that cuts it – bring me a drop-waisted lace minidress, please! I’m particularly in love with the silver heel on this design, and I’d use that as a starting point to select the types of colors I’d pair with these shoes. Buy through Net-a-Porter for $995.

Love MK and love the idea of a chunky mary-jane. Being perhaps not as bold as you are I’d prefer to rock these with some dark skinny pants and a denim top. The lace sounds lovely though =)

Oh the memories… I was one of those young 18 year old chicks that rock these type of shoes. I must have these :)
