By now, you’ve all seen the sneaker wedges by Isabel Marant, Giuseppe Zanotti, Ash and a million others that have had the fashion industry buzzing with fashion-meets-function glee over the past season. Since the very beginning, I’ve been telling you the same ol’ thing: save your zillions of dollars and buy a good ol’ fashioned pair of Nike Dunks instead. They look just as cool and cost a fraction as much as the Marants, I said! Some of you listened, some of you didn’t. Some of you may have been persuaded by the wedge Dunks featured in Nike’s cult-favorite collaborations with Liberty. Now, with the Nike Dunk Sky High Wedge Sneaker‘s debut, sneaker wedges can officially be called part of mainstream culture. They’re a weird fashion-person obsession no longer.

I don’t dig the wedge-sneaker trend, as you all know by now, but this iteration is by far my favorite, especially in black suede. Nike’s a company that makes fashion-forward products as well as actual, real athletic shoes, so the inclusion of a sneaker wedge in its lineup makes much more sense than it does someone like Marant’s. You also get iconic sneaker branding when you go with Nike, which I prefer to when going for an athletic look. The best part, of course, is the price – you can pick up the Dunk Sky Highs for $120 via Net-a-Porter.

I’m on the same page as you. I think that this is the best alliteration. But for me, it’s because they don’t look thick and bulky.
With that being said, I would never spend that much money for a pair of sneakers. Athletic or otherwise.

I have always like the sneaker wedges, but felt that they were to costly. I think it is great that Nike made an affordable version. I would buy them, price in not bad.
