At one time or another, we have all uttered the deadly phrase: “My feet are KILLING me.” There are several instances where I’ve chosen vanity over comfort, and I wanted to kick myself every single time. I feel like Monica from Friends in the episode when she tried to justify to Chandler the benefits of owning a beautiful and expensive pair of boots, only to want to amputate her feet when she realized the pain that the darn boots caused. Since I’ve been writing about shoes lately, I cannot help but think about vanity, comfort, and how they don’t always go hand-in-hand. There is no better example than the pair of Rachel Zoe Hayden Wedge Booties.

While I am a huge Rachel Zoe fan, I’m not kidding when I say that I thought these bad boys were going to claw at me from my computer screen. Don’t get me wrong, I love skyscraper as much as the next girl, but this is a bit much. The futuristic moon-shoe shaped bootie is made of calfskin leather with elastic detailing at the sides. The heel of these booties is literally out of this world measuring at six inches with an added platform of two and a quarter inches. What?! While we all know Rachel Zoe loves her killer heels, that’s exactly, literally what these are: killer heels.

Not only do I think the height is an issue, but look at the curvature of these shoes. I’m sorry, I just can’t see anyone walking in these things with ease. It seems only trained professionals would be able to rock this design without hurting themselves. In the case of these booties, I will choose comfort any day of the week. What do you guys think? If you are up to the challenge, you can try a pair for $525 at Shopbop.com.

This pair of boots belong to the bride of Frankenstein, and just in time for Halloween.

I question if you, and Sandra here, even like shoes at all.

These shoes don’t offer comfort OR vanity!!! Maybe I’m crazy, but I’m not going to let a designer label change my perception of what’s trendy and whats not! And clearly these shoes are NOT! I’m a fan of Rachel Zoe; but what was she thinking when she designed these!

I’ll have to agree with Melissa on this one – I think Rachel Z can do better in the shoes department as her apparel and accessories collection are pretty cool – these wedge heels just ain’t cutting it for me! :(
Rachel Z – please improve the shoes!
