When I first saw the Christian Louboutin Chelita Metal Wingtip Ankle Boots at the Christian Louboutin Fall 2012 preview, I immediately knew how I felt: I loved them. We’ve talked previously about my somewhat precarious relationship with cowboy boots and their cultural context, but I can’t get enough of these shoes. They look like a particularly chic cowgirl stumbled into a particularly chic downtown party, and these shoes were what resulted. Does that look translate to other people, though?

I have a bit of a difficult time imagining these shoes styled as part of an outfit, mostly because of the heel. I like the thick mirrored heel, but it’d be easier to pull off in a more casual way if it were shorter. On the other hand, it’d be easier to pull off as a sexy shoe if it were the same height but thinner. I love the metal toe cap and buckles, though, and I’m pretty confident that I could get comfortable with this shoe given the chance. And boy, oh boy, would I love the chance. What do you think? Buy through Net-a-Porter for $1795.

I like the shape of the shoe, but I’m not sure about the cap. Kind of ugly, if you ask me. I also have some issues with CL in that I find their sizing a little…big. I’m normally a 4 1/2 or 5, but at my first purchase, I ended up buying 34s!! Yeah…I think my Proratas are my one and only 4/34 shoes in my collection.

I like the boot. However, being originally from Texas, I try to stay away from cowboy-ish boots. I have never owned a pair and never want to own a pair. My accent is Texas enough.
The only thing that I could think to style this with is a denim skirt or skinny jeans.
