Anyone who’s ever seen an Oscar de la Renta show or been to one of his boutiques knows that the man is the uncontested king of embellishment. De la Renta Madison Avenue flagship store consistently ranks as the most expensive place to shop in the country, and his designs earn such high price tags because of the incredible amount of detail and embellishment that goes into nearly every piece. When you buy something from Oscar, you’re buying something special, every time.
Embellishment and texture are huge trends for fall, and naturally, OdlR has about a zillion things available to bring you up to speed on both fronts. For my dollars, I’d go with the Oscar de la Renta Ella Brocade Ankle Boots. They’re just so…regal.
Now that black booties have had their two years of dominance as the go-to shoe for fashion people, a lot of brands are looking to knee-high versions as an alternative. Personally, I still like a lower boot because it’s more versatile, so this design is a great way to wear something that’s more interesting than a standard black bootie while still maintaining the versatility of the shape. Plus, brocade was all over the Fall 2012 runways, and particularly in the black-and-gold color combination you see here. Perfect. Buy through Net-a-Porter for $995.
