You guys have seen This is Spinal Tap, right? For the uninitiated, it’s a classic documentary-style parody of the arena metal band lifestyle, and one of its most famous gags is that the band’s amps go to 11. Normal amps have loudness settings between 1 and 10, but because Spinal Tap is just so metal, its amps go up just a little bit further. With the Giuseppe Zanotti Swarovski and Stud Heelless Ankle Boots, Zanotti seems to have found a similar setting for the metaphorical loudness of its shoes.
I’ve written fairly extensively about Zanotti’s line of heelless platforms in the past, including a similar pair covered in multicolored Swarovski crystals, but the bright silver embellishment and the long, prominent spikes in particular make this pair worthy of mention. It’s the most daring design yet from a brand that splits its identity between the wearable and the absurd, and if I’ve ever seen a pair of car-to-curb heels (or non-heels, as it were), this is definitely it. Buy through Net-a-Porter for $2950.
