Bow-back shoes are having a moment for Fall 2012

Now that it’s becoming clearer which stores made which buys for Fall 2012, the real trends of the season are starting to emerge. (Runway trends are one thing, but if they don’t get picked up by retailers – like velvet from last fall – they’re over before they ever exist.) Of the things I’ve noticed happening in the footwear space so far, bow-back shoes and boots have to be my absolute favorite. It’s a detail that can be executed in a number of ways and that can lend a note of luxurious femininity to a variety of shoe structures and aesthetics, and everyone from Christian Louboutin to Alexander McQueen is doing it for fall.
