In addition to industry leaders like Christian Louboutin and Giuseppe Zanotti, Brian Atwood is the latest designer to come out with a shoe whose platform defies both belief and the strength of most people’s ankles – behold, if you dare, the Brian Atwood Alesha Leopard Platform Pump.

I was really hoping that the superplatform trend would simmer down now that prominent fan Lady Gaga is in between albums and not so omnipresent, but it shows no signs of abating. In a way, Atwood’s is among the more reasonable of the available options; at least the Alesha has a thicker heel to go with its giant lift, instead of just a teeny tiny, extremely tall stiletto. Still, though, that’s six and a half inches with no straps for support or stabilization, and as with all shoes this high, we recommend you think long and hard before doing anything but sitting down with them on your feet. And really, if all you’re going to do is sit, go for the Christian Louboutin Daffodils. They’re better looking. Buy through Neiman Marcus for $972.

I think that Louboutin makes the best super platforms, this one and the Zanotti are horrible… it’s the proportion thats wrong
