Based on the Lanvin Grosgrain-Trimmed Elaphe Pumps, I’d wager that no, in fact, there is not. Lanvin is the loveliest of them all.
There might be something more French than a pale pink snakeskin pump trimmed in rosy grosgrain, but I certainly can’t think of what that might be. These are exactly the type of shoes that you see on the chicest girl in the room, paired with slouchy, cuffed boyfriend jeans and a plain white button down. Of course, she would look absolutely perfect, despite the fact that if most people were to put on the same three elements, they wouldn’t look nearly the same.
Lanvin shoes are the type flocked to by those women because the brand’s designers, headed up by the incomparable Alber Elbaz, know just when to stop futzing with a piece. A lesser shoemaker might give this pump an ankle strap, or perhaps an element of sparkle at the vamp, or a platform to allow a higher heel. Lanvin stops themselves from doing any of that, which is the brand’s true strength. Buy through Net-a-Porter for $795.
