You can always spot a Charlotte Olympia shoe a mile away. Even when a design doesn’t have Olympia’s signature shrunken platform, the brand’s designs are so distinctive, it’s aesthetic so clear, that the presence of that signature isn’t always necessary. In the case of the Charlotte Olympia Bruce Sandals, it’s the little leopard heads on the shoes’ vamp that give it away, even though Olympia has never used this specific motif before.
Without the little heads, this shoe would still be nice. The sandle is made entirely out of crepe-covered leather, which shows an attention to detail and quality that’s all too often missing from shoes in a similar price point. Still, though, the exclusion of the leopard heads would mean that the design could have been done by almost anyone; the same sort of whimsy that motivated Charlotte Delal to embroider kitty faces on her best-selling motivates her to make shoes like these, and it’s that sense for fun that makes her shoes so popular.
