The end of work today marks the three-day Memorial Day weekend for our American readers (or if you’re particularly lucky, like some of my friends, your holiday started yesterday evening), which is our unofficial start of the holiday season and a great excuse to head out to the nearest body of water, don your bathing suit for the first time this year and feel a tad patriotic about your mini-vacation. In a way, the Yves Saint Laurent Starfish Platforms are perfect for that: they’re extremely nautical, the heavily read color scheme is appropriate for Memorial Day, they’re sandals.

    Utterly ridiculous.  They’re cute, but who can actually walk in this without breaking something?  I like the concept but the execution is all wrong.

    embarrassing on behalf of YSL.. I love YSL tributes, and their bags, and on and on, but honestly these shoes are just terrible. I could see without such a high platform, or without the stars, but with both it is overwhelmingly awful.. But of course yes, someone will buy them. It just wont be me!
