On Monday, we brought you the first picture of the much-anticipated Christian Louboutin Red Strass Sole – the rest of the shoe will also be red strass, giving the design a wrap-around sparkle effect. Louboutin wasn’t the first person to have that idea, though; in fact, the overwhelming popularity of his red lacquer soles have lead lots of designers to experiment with how they can best embellish the bottoms of their own shoes. Some have done glitter, others were the first on the strass-sole bandwagon, but none of them did it for a better price than the B Brian Atwood Francois Suede Platforms.
Christian Louboutin’s strass shoes generally retail anywhere from $3,000-$6,000+ right now, and that’s with a plain red sole. Can you imagine how much they’ll be when they’re full wrapped in Austrian crystals? I shudder to think. On the other hand, if you just want to get that “Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes” feeling without walking around in your own personal disco balls or taking out a second mortgage, these shoes give you a little bit of glitz around the platform and, more importantly, underneath your feet. The entire shoe is wrapped in a very nice shade of teal suede, and the finished product feels like the type of shoe a mermaid would wear, were mermaids real and able to wear shoes. The best part, though? The price. Buy through Neiman Marcus for $395.
