I’m not even sure where to start, except to say that if I were asked to participate in this week’s Fill in the Blank about the Casadei Architectural Crisscross Slides, my response would be “not a good look.”

Some of you may remember my positive review of a similar shoe from Casadei, an opinion behind which I firmly stand. Everything that shoe got right, this version manages to get wrong, and considering them together is almost a case study in how an idea can work or not work based on things like color choices and the inclusion or exclusion of an ankle strap. In neutral, natural leather and cork, that design had a strong base off of which to play its neon orange accents. When you substitute stark white and neon yellow and make the whole thing a mule instead of a sleek wedge sandal, the look heads too far into Eurotrash territory. (No offense, Europeans, most of y’all dress quite well. I think you know what I mean, though.)

What say you? Let us know in the comments or pick up a pair of these platforms via Neiman Marcus for $1170.
