A friend of mine was railing against peep-toe booties intended for summer use on Twitter yesterday, and I couldn’t help but go out and find a shoe to prove him wrong. I think that the style is an interesting alternative to a traditional high heel, and if it’s designed correctly, they don’t look out of place in warm weather.
I’m as baffled as anyone by girls that choose to wear clunky Frye boots or something similar when it’s hot outside – I live in a very warm and humid area of the country, and I barely want to wear clothing, let alone shoes that require socks and will make my feet sweat immediately. When the bootie is as cute as the Loeffler Randall Honey Peep Toe Bootie, however, I say bring on the booties no matter the temperature.
This bootie’s mid-height heel makes it more convenient for outdoor events than your average stiletto, and the sunny acid yellow color is perfect for warm weather. The large perforations in the body of the shoe allow it to mimic a sandal and let your feet breathe (SO IMPORTANT, PEOPLE), but there’s still enough total coverage to classify it as a bootie. I’d wear it with a vintage-inspired sundress in a second. Buy through Nordstrom for $550.
