Dolce & Gabbana usually isn’t a brand known specifically for its shoes, but the footwear of Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2012 is worth noting. If only the brand had applied the same kind of intricate religious embellishment to its handbags, I’d be a completely happy camper. As it is, I’m still pretty happy with the shoes.

After seasons of ever-rising heel heights, the thing that struck me most about this collection is that most of the shoes look like you’d actually be able to wear them for a little while without hating yourself for pulling them out of the closet. The heels are a few millimeters thicker and noticeably shorter than the stilettos that have been inescapable for quite some time, and Dolce deserves credit for making interesting shoes that perhaps won’t punish their wearers quite as much as they would have in seasons past. It’s a step, both figuratively and literally, in the right direction.

Totally in love with the collection.

Love #21. I wouldn’t be able to wear any of these for more than 15 minutes, but I guess they’re more reasonable than a lot of designer heels.

#’s 22, 24 and 25 are shoes I’d actually buy and wear, but the two in the large photo at the top are for display, not  wearing.  The lace-wrapped shoe looks so Victorian, and the pastel shoes look just like the miniature porcelain figures my mother and aunts had displayed on fancy shelves.  They remind me of some of the Disney movies — Beauty & the Beast, Alice in Wonderland, etc.

Definitely an interesting mix of shoes coming from Dolce & Gabbana this time…

Absolutely stunning. I am so pleased with the fashion of 2012. It is very royal and noble looking. But, it’s so upsetting that these styles aren’t readily accepted in the United States, we seem to have gotten stuck in 200 with the bandage dresses, body-con; ill fitting styles, either too billowy or too tight, a.k.a club gear or the “boho” sloppy look. The fit and flare and skater dresses have been in style again since 2010 and they have only recently hit the shelves here in the U.S. Boring silhouettes and typical platform shoes are what we find here, clones of one another on sale from $10 to $2,000 and they all look alike! I would love to find some more European styles in the U.S. D&G has really inspired me, and given me hope for future fashion to come. I am in love with the hair style they were wearing as well. Love love love all those shoes and would wear any of them! So gorgeous and pleasing to the eye, and as the first commenter said, pleasing to the feet as well.
