Versace still makes the world’s most expensive stripper heels

Versace Metallic leather Platform Sandals, $1295 via Net-a-Porter
Don’t get me wrong; in a way, I actually sort of like the Versace Metallic Leather Platform Sandals. In a way.
Versace generally does much better with its shoes than it does in other areas of the accessory world, and although I’m not sure exactly why that is, perhaps the company should look into giving the footwear team the lion’s share of the handbag work as well. This pair, like the pastel iteration of the same structure before it, is perhaps the most Versace thing to ever Versace; after all, in-your-face sexuality has always been a hallmark of the brand’s aesthetic. If ever were a company to take on the shoes that strippers wear while plying their trade, Versace would be the most appropriate company to do it.
What the design team has done, though, is something that it’s often not able to translate in other accessories – take something obvious and make it interesting. The architectural structure of these shoes is interesting and maybe even beautiful, even if the end result edges more toward the profane. With a full line of lucite-platformed sandals coming for spring, this shoe is just the tip of the high-end stripper iceberg. Personally, I don’t mind looking, even if I’d never buy a pair in a million years. Buy through Net-a-Porter for $1295.
