Giuseppe Zanotti gets in on the superplatform game

Giuseppe Zanotti Platform Pumps, $795 via Nordstrom
With the incredible sell-out success of the Christian Louboutin Daffodil, it was only a matter of time until other designers of a similar caliber created their own version of the shoe to get in on a little bit of that sky-high shoe money. Like Louboutin, Giuseppe Zanotti has done high platforms with high heels plenty of times in the past, but the construction and shape of the Giuseppe Zanotti Platform Pump makes the extreme proportions all the more obvious.
Of course, these shoes aren’t exactly like the famous Daffodils (or exactly like the Daffodil’s peep toe counterpart, the Highness); they’re merely another variation on the same theme. Where the Daffodil is sleek and tall, Zannotti takes a more curved route to get the basically the same destination. And actually, it’s worth mentioning that the destination is indeed slightly different – while the Louboutins soar to six and a half inches, the Zannottis stop at six. Well, that practically makes them orthopedic shoes then, doesn’t it?
I do really like the cobalt blue suede that this pair comes in; in fact, I like it much better than the peach suede that we recently saw on the Highness. Buy still, I have to sit this trend out. With no additional straps to keep your foot stable on such a high platform and stiletto, I would worry (and ache) too much to buy a design like these. Buy through Nordstrom for $795.
