Lanvin Chain and Fringe T Strap Sandals, $1598 via Neiman Marcus

I just don’t know any more, you guys. I just don’t know! It seems like everywhere I look, another brand that is usually totally reliable is letting me down in some unforeseen way. PurseBlog readers already know about my problems with Balenciaga and Proenza Schouler, but now the (apparently contagious) case of the uggs has hit the Lanvin shoe department. The Lanvin Chain and Fringe T-Strap Sandals are not to be forgiven, although I hope I’ll forget them soon.

I’ve praised Lanvin in the past for always knowing how to go far enough without going too far, and this is the exception that proves the rule. I was shocked to see this design with a Lanvin mark on it, which just goes to show you how good the brand usually is at making covetable footwear. Unfortunately, this pair in particular is certainly not covetable. Instead, it’s sloppy and inexpensive looking. If Andre Leon Talley was here, he’d call it a famine of beauty. Buy through Neiman Marcus for $1598.

They could use a little more polish, and they would be fabulous.

I would like to see them on a foot, they might be better than you think.

Well regardless if they were supposed to look like that or not, it was definitely a mistake.. They look like they might go with a garbage bag for a dress. Too bad the homeless can’t afford Lanvin..
