It would be hard to overstate exactly how much I like the shoes from Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2012. Although they may not be avant garde, over-the-top or particularly innovate, they are a collection of shoes that I could see being worn proudly and often by a lot of different women. Most of the heels are thick and of a reasonable height, and there’s every material represented from lace to wicker (which I really hope is cleverly disguised leather) to brocade.
There’s also a lot of nude in this collection, which is a perennial retail favorite, but my eye lingers on the slightly weirder shoes. (As always.) The transparent plastic bootie with black trim caught my attention in particular, and it’s a shoe that I’d very much like to see in person. I know we’re all against plastic shoes here, but if this one performs as well in reality as it does on the runway, it could be a very cool option to pair with a cocktail dress instead of a standard black bootie or pump.
