Brian Atwood Blonski Suede Boots, $2070 via Net-a-Porter

I’m usually slow to use superlatives, particularly when a season has barely started, but I feel comfortable calling the Brian Atwood Bronski Studded Thigh-High Boots the sexiest boots we’re going to see this season, and perhaps the sexiest shoes, period. In fact, I’d challenge anyone to prove me wrong, because I bet you can’t.

Boots like these are sort of like pants in reverse – they come so close to crotch-grazing levels that you’re more or less totally covered, even if you’re wearing a mini dress. Except they’re so, so much cooler and vampier than suede pants, obviously.

This design is from a shoe lover, for shoe lovers – it’s extreme, over-the-top and utterly non-functional. But it’s awesome, so in the twisted minds of those of us who look at a four-inch-heel as normal, none of that even matters. The honeycombed spikes on the back of the heel are a great touch of detail in a vast canvas of rich blacks suede, and they add just the right bit of attitude without overdoing what’s already obvious. When you’re wearing black thigh-high boots, you don’t need fist-fulls of studs to let everyone know you’re a badass. Buy through Net-a-Porter for $2070.
