Diego Dolcini Fanned Zip-Back Sandals, $2445 via Neiman Marcus.

I’ve had the Diego Dolcini Fanned Zip Back Sandals sitting in a tab in my browser for a full week now, and Friday seems like as good a day as any to tackle their boundless…well, their boundless whatever. I don’t know if I admire these shoes for their chutzpah or dislike them for being overdone, but either way, I appreciate that Dolcini goes on making fantastical, over-the-top, very European (if you catch my meaning) shoes for all of us to talk about.

In fact, we had had great fun with one of Dolcini’s feather-adorned creations a few weeks ago, which I actually would wear with no hesitation. And although I’m sure that this shoe is beautiful in person, from these pictures, I can’t quite make sense of it. Does the tulle fan extend all the way around the ankle? Is it just flopped over in the picture? Usually retailers go to great efforts to pick up a shoe’s straps for stock photos, so I’m not sure what to make of this design without further information. But I do know that I’d rather be confused than bored any day. Buy through Neiman Marcus for $2445.
