Just like the Fendi schoolgirl shoes from earlier in the week, I’ve been waiting excitedly since February for the Nicholas Kirkwood for Erdem Silk Platform Pumps to finally hit retailers for pre-order. I love both Kirkwood and Erdem, and the combination of both in a single slice of patterned shoe perfection is almost too much for me to pass up.

In my mind, patterned shoes are an under-appreciated bit of wardrobe inspiration. A multicolored accessory very quickly sets a mood and palette for an outfit; all you have to do is add clothes. And with a pair of shoes this inspirational, you could go in more directions than lovers of neutral shoes might guess.

In a less conservative office that still required business attire, I could see pairing these shoes with a sharp menswear-inspired suit. Or if you prefer to go the girlish route, combine them with a full, lush midi skirt in a bright color. Or wear them with anything, really. Skinny jeans, wide leg trousers. Whatever. When a shoe (and a pattern. Erdem’s patterns are divine.) is this good, it doesn’t really matter. Buy through Saks for $1050.

The platform reminds me of fat layers. Curiously, I still love these shoes and definitely want to buy them. The pattern is amazing.

Does the headline of this article have a rather odd typo, out of curiosity? Was this to say “with these SILK Nicholas….pumps” or was it really meant to say “sick”?

It was meant to say “sick.” “Sick” as in “awesome.”
