Jimmy Choo announces Icons collection
by Amanda MullIn a move that will do little to silence critics who think that Tamara Mellon is out of ideas, Jimmy Choo announced yesterday that it will be released a collection of hits from the brand’s past called Jimmy Choo Icons. The line will include shoes that have both been instrumental to the brand’s public image and special to Mellon herself during her career with the brand.
Two such shoes are the Jimmy Choo Feather Platform, which Carrie Bradshaw lost while running to the Staten Island Ferry in a memorable episode of Sex and the City, and the Jimmy Choo Fleur Sandal, which Tamara Mellon wore while receiving her Order of the British Empire from Queen Elizabeth II late last year. But in a move that will likely please some of the brand’s naysayers, the line has a charitable twist.
Mellon plans to donate 10% of the line’s net sales to the Jimmy Choo Foundation, which supports women’s charities throughout the UK. And with price tags ranging from $850 to $3785, these shoes could generate a lot of cash for women in need if the line does well. Which Jimmy Choo design would you like to see revisited?
