Some brand set trends, other brands chase them and still others do exactly what they please no matter what else might be going on in the industry. Roger Vivier, with its pointed toes and signature pilgrim buckles, is a brand of the third type, and this season, fashion has gotten behind Vivier’s refined aesthetic whole-heartedly; there are few more civilized places to spot this season’s trends.

For this brand, of course, they’re not trends. Vivier makes shoes for Upper East Side ladies and European aristocrats, and the rest of us are just along for the ride. And for Fall 2011, it’s a mostly splendid journey with contrasting metallic heels and a bit of strass sparkle here and there. If Louboutin heel heights aren’t your thing, you may be a Vivier woman at heart.

Love, love Roger Vivier. I’ve always loved his buckled flat.

There are so many shoes in this collection that I would love to own. #11 is gorgeous. I love the perforated detail on #22. #24 & #25 are simple yet striking, while #31 would make a very, very good office shoe. *siiiigh!*

I love these so much I can’t list my favorites. There are too many! I love the quirky look of these, and the thick heels galore! Fantastic outside the box fashion.

A shoe collection in which I would wear every pair even with my bad back and flat feet. These are beautiful.
And, I would wear those sequined shoes just to take out the trash!
