Alexander McQueen Embossed Leather Ankle Boots We all know that I can never resist a McQueen post...Alexander McQueen Embossed Leather Ankle Boots, $1468 via Matches

Sometimes I think that I could fill an entire daily blog just with posts about Alexander McQueen. When I heard that Kate Middleton would likely be wearing McQueen the afternoon before last week’s royal wedding, I ditched my decision to skip the nuptials and instead stayed up all night to see the dress. McQueen’s death is the only “celebrity” passing that has ever brought me to tears, and if it weren’t for him, I probably wouldn’t love fashion enough to make a career out of it. If you’ve been visiting these parts for a while, you already know all of this, so I apologize for repeating myself. But when runway masterpieces like the Alexander McQueen Embossed Leather Ankle Boots make it to retail, it only makes me appreciate the man and the company that he left behind all the more.

Unfortunately, the most directional and off-the-wall runway footwear often doesn’t make it to mass production, but because McQueen’s customers expect and crave the brand’s eccentricities, shoes like these booties get made and the world is a slightly more interesting place. It’s a testament to the company’s footwear designers that they found a way to make a black bootie, something that we’ve all seen done hundreds of times over the past few seasons, feel new and fresh. As with any other McQueen product, the details here are perfect, from the embossed leather to the snub-nose metal toe. Buy through Matches for $1468.

They are lovely to look at…but can you walk in them? That’s my problem with a lot of his shoes – it has nothing to do with whether or not I can afford them OR wear them – but if those who can do both look like it is painful to walk in them – or if the models fall on the runway wearing them – how good is the design if they are only good to look at?

Don’t shoot me – but I started to wonder about this when I saw his Armadillo shoes. I mean really – who could wear them except Lady Gaga or Daphne Guinness? And who would want to? At least these booties are attractive!

Those shoes are really nice to look at.
But, I find that they look like some torture device for the feet.

I agree that many of this designers offerings are a bit crazy for the masses. This pair however, just beautiful. I am not ready to commit to fall boots yet….have to ponder all the options…but maybe.
