Wedding shoes are one of the most important footwear purchases that most women will make in their lives; not only do they carry you down the aisle to your future spouse, but they end up documented in photos throughout the day, and sometimes even star in a few snapshots of their own. With the most publicized wedding of our generation only a few days away, what better time to explore the amazing breadth of options that brides-to-be have in front of them?

This guide doesn’t cover every style or option, but it does represent a cross-section of what’s available on the luxury mass market for weddings right now, all the way from practical and re-wearable to fantastical and nearly unwearable. Take a look at our picks for seven different types of brides, and let us know what you look for in a special occasion shoe.

That Miu Miu shoe looks like it’s for a pole technician. I guess even they get married as well.
I wore embellished flats under my wedding dress because my husband is only an inch taller than me so I really like the Vera Wang flats.
Another that caught my eye was the Zanotti bow heel sandals. Very pretty for the blushing bride. Loved the color on the Manolos.
The Kirkwoods look like they are stuffed with tissues.

You’ve written about the GZ bow sandal before (and so have I, on my blog) and it still gives me fuzzy feelings. It’s just so PRETTY. That really is the word I would use to describe it. It’s delicate without being fussy, feminine without being prissy. I absolutely love it.

And the McQueen in the first picture is to die for! I would never wear it, but that doesn’t stop me from thinking it’s an absolute work of art.

Is the Manolo the same one as from the first Sex and the City movie? It seems similar to me, except of course the one in the movie was blue.

Yep, the Hangisis are the Sex and the City shoes! I know a lot of brides wear them in blue, so I thought the pink would be a nice variation to include.

And you’re right, the Zanotti bow sandals are just so PRETTY. I tried to limit the number of shoes that I had already written about, but they’re so perfect that I couldn’t leave them out.

Haha, I don’t really have it but Megs has it bad enough for both of us. I’m very excited to see what Kate wears, though!

i would love to wear the 2 mc Queens and the louboutin strass shoes on my wedding day… but sadly, for the price, my boyfriend will run amok. hahaha… i’d probable buy the miu mius coz they are the ones who suit my personality well and the price point is reachable.. my dream wedding would be entitled:

“2 Mc Queens and a Louboutin”

    hahah
