Yesterday we discussed the Prada Elastic Stripe Wedges, which everyone seemed to like quite a bit, in a silly, over-the-top sort of way. By comparison, the Charlotte Olympia Colorblock Satin Pumps are a relatively sane take on the same trend.

I’ve always admired Charlotte Olympia designer Charlotte Dellal’s ability to combine a number of colors on a single shoe and consistently make it work, and this is a perfect example of her talent in that arena. These shoes stand out (they’re red, yellow and blue satin – of course they stand out), but they do it in a way that’s still refined and ladylike while still retaining their sexiness.

Charlotte OIympia Colorblock Satin Pump Charlotte Olympias sophisticated take on colorblocking

The structure of these shoes isn’t opening any new design doors, but I love that Dellal took the different physical pieces of the shoe and colorblocked them that way instead of going for an all-over stripe or something similar. Not only does it emphasize the shoe’s components, but it makes a great deal of aesthetic sense, creating a finished product that’s a bright wardrobe addition instead of a fashion oddity. Buy through Neiman Marcus for $895.

I never thought I would see an orange, blue and yellow satin shoe and say “I want that shoe.” Kudos to Charlotte Olympia for making a shoe that proved me wrong.

I do love these colors together, but I’m getting pretty tired of platform pumps..I loved the bootie she did that I saw on Sea of Shoes months ago – it was for another designer’s line, can’t remember the line, but did a google search and couldn’t find them anywhere. Clearly, she’s got talent and I look forward to seeing more from her.

I like the color combination. However, I wish that the shoes were leather instead of satin.

These have a huge platform and skinny heel, but no elastic straps to keep them on the feet. I couldn’t wear these for long.
