The Overpriced Balmain Lace-Up Canvas Ankle Boots

Balmain likes to ask us to pay hundreds for a ripped up tee-shirt and thousands for a pair of canvas boots. Kim Kardashian may splurge on Balmain, but I have never felt the urge to or found any item of which I could justify the price. Kim choose to wear the $1,195 Balmain Lace-Up Canvas Ankle Boots out on the town in Miami. These lace-up boots are made of khaki colored canvas.

So are they worth it?

Not to me. When buying designer handbags and shoes, we know the price tag is infused with paying for the brand. But there is only so far many of us will go, and for me, Balmain asks far too much for what they give.

There is nothing interesting to these boots, other than the price. The heel measures 4.5 inches and there is black lace-up front with two buckle details at the side. That is it. There is nothing more to these shoes. No kind of leather detailing (other than lining), or studs. They don’t walk for you. These shoes simply are a pair of ankle boots made out of canvas. Would you ever splurge on a pair of shoes like this? Buy via Net A Porter for $1,195.

The only Balmain i’ve ever been interest in is the crystal gladiator type sandal. THose were TDF!!!! I’m not feeling these at all, though.

Definitely not worth it. But I would like to wear them. They would be perfect for that fall boho chic look that says “I’m not trying to be chic” but you look it.

I actually like the simplicity of the boots, but the price is completely outrageous. Not even the old design houses can rely on their name alone to mark up their products.

Dear Balmain, Manolo Blahnik did this about 8 years ago. We’d all prefer the heeled & laced boot stayed in 2002. I’m not impressed by these at all.

I would splurge on a pair of shoes at that price if I won the lottery! But I wouldn’t pick this pair.. I feel like if a pair of shoes has a price tag like that they should at least be made of expensive materials that make them at least close to worth it like swarovski rhinestones, exotic leathers, etc.
