As functional and wearable as wedges are during warm weather, I find myself feeling like I’ve seen most wedge designs before. A little wood or cork, a few leather straps, et voila: A high-yield, high margin shoe that appeals to a lot of women. You know the shoes that I’m talking about, because you see them every year as well.

The Loeffler Randall Cutout Wedge Sandal, on the other hand, is a design that’s both wearable and fresh. Suede isn’t an intuitive fabric for a sandal, but the punchy red-orange color ensures that even though this shoe is a little less bare than many in the same genre, it feels no less season-appropriate.

Although the heel stands at a little over four inches, the inch-tall covered platform and sturdy wooden wedge make this the kind of shoe that heel lovers should be able to wear all day on the weekends. The lace-up style and curved heel are a much more modern take on a summer staple, and for what you get, the price isn’t bad at all. I’d be proud to wear these all summer long, and with the right pair of tights, maybe even longer. Buy through Neiman Marcus for $495.

Pretty shoe, and I love the color. It actually looks like a wearable wedge.

I love these, but someone would have to help me up off the floor!

Hmm..at first I thought it might be a bit too much lacing, but the suede softens it. I like it! And I don’t like too many wedges…

Love the concept, hate the colors/material used.
