It seems as though Jil Sander can do no wrong this season. Fashion people are clamoring over Raf Simons’ bright, stark separates, we loved the collection’s simple and vibrant hobos over at PurseBlog, and now I want a pair of the Jil Sander Two-Tone Leather Brogues. I just want them with a sole that’s pink or purple (or maybe even green) instead of yellow.

The yellow is a bit problematic for me because many shoes already have rubber soles that skew a bit toward yellowish. A different bright would make the design more representative of the Sander aesthetic, and also more in tune with the rest of my wardrobe. In this color, though, the design still works. The traditional lines of the brogue against the stark minimalism of the yellow sole are weird in exactly the right ways, and they demonstrate perfectly why Jil Sander is the brand that everyone is talking about for spring. Buy through Net-a-Porter for $695.

    A proper tweaker look.

This is plain stealing! Rachel Comey did this exact same shoe a few seasons ago:

    Outrageous, if you ask me.

Oh wow, you’re right. It’s the exact same shoe. And it does look cool with a green sole.

I’m kind of surprised, honestly. Simons doesn’t have a huge rep as a “borrower,” at least as far as I know, and the collection seemed so fresh.

Yeah me too. I really respect Simons, that’s why I was more than puzzled when I saw this! My husband owns the Rachel Comey Green-sole Version, and they are very well-made and true iconic shoes. I feel sorry for her cause she is less well-known, and there’s nothing much she could do either way.

I love Jil Sander’s collection! I considered getting these but I figured that the yellow soles would get nasty-looking pretty quickly and I wish the top brogue part was more feminine.

Okay, I take back my hatred of neon for this shoe (and its twin from a different brand). This looks fantastic.

  • Joey

These look more masculine-inspired than they do feminine.

Not a fan of Jil Sander’s new collection, and I don’t like these shoes either.
It looks like the shoe should come with a caution sign.

WOW! A bit masculine, as already said, but I do like the concept.
