It seems as though Jil Sander can do no wrong this season. Fashion people are clamoring over Raf Simons’ bright, stark separates, we loved the collection’s simple and vibrant hobos over at PurseBlog, and now I want a pair of the Jil Sander Two-Tone Leather Brogues. I just want them with a sole that’s pink or purple (or maybe even green) instead of yellow.
The yellow is a bit problematic for me because many shoes already have rubber soles that skew a bit toward yellowish. A different bright would make the design more representative of the Sander aesthetic, and also more in tune with the rest of my wardrobe. In this color, though, the design still works. The traditional lines of the brogue against the stark minimalism of the yellow sole are weird in exactly the right ways, and they demonstrate perfectly why Jil Sander is the brand that everyone is talking about for spring.
