When I try to think of a pair of Valentino shoes in my head, I always come up with the same thing – a nude peep-toe pump, covered in delicate black lace, with a high-but-not-too-high heel and maybe a slight, covered platform. Nothing too strong or bold or eye-catching. Valentino’s shoes tend to be pretty, and also pretty forgettable.

There’s some indication that Valentino intends to address this problem, first with the popular-among-fashion-editors studded kitten heels and now with the Valentino Patent Leather Sandals, which will probably appeal to a wider shoe-loving audience.

I’ve always been a fan of Valentino’s gravity-defying sculptured bows, but they usually adorn shoes so normal and conservative that I couldn’t see them fitting into my wardrobe. In this case, I’d snap them up in a second if this shoe were black (and it probably comes in black, or it likely will in the future). As it is, this blush pink iteration would look great at a spring wedding, whether you’re a bride or merely a guest. The shape of the shoe is modern and sexy, but the color and fabrication are traditional and ladylike. If Valentino could strike exactly this note with all of its shoes, I’d have many more pairs in my closet. Buy through Saks for $795.

I have been in love with Valentino’s shoes ever since they came out with the bow on the vamp look a couple seasons back. I love this one too for it whimsicalness! But am I the only one that thinks this color taupe doesn’t match anyone’s skintone? That being said, I think I’d still buy it, though. I love their shoes.

Ah yes, love Valentino. The colour is really the stunner here. It’s like a soft taro colour. Gorgeous!
