I can think of no more precarious shoe material that white suede or nubuck. The soft, napped finish of both materials is notorious for its easy ruination at the hands of dirt, grime and moisture, and making either material stark white feels like tempting fate in the worst way. And still, I find myself overwhelmingly attracted to the Giuseppe Zanotti Tapered Toe Pumps.

In this case, I think that the white color is key to the minimal, sleek effect of the design. This shoe’s lines are back-breakingly precise, and a similarly stark color choice helps to highlight the care that went into crafting this prototypical pump. But still, white nubuck? I don’t know what I’m supposed to do with that.

The more I look at this design, the more it reminds me of a Barbie shoe, but in a good way. The shape and feel are timeless, and it’s the kind of shoe that I thought I would grow up to wear when I was a child playing dress-up. White heels always have a vaguely naughty-nurse feel to me, but if ever a pair could pull off the look without looking silly or fetishistic, it’s these. Now I just have to figure out how to keep white nubuck clean. Buy through ShopBop for $550.

Ha before i clicked on continue reading i was thinking that these are the plastic barbie shoes from my childhood and then you went and said it. Im oddly attracted to white shoes and white clothes that im bound to mess up due to 2 black shedding mutts. The price is really great too but seriously white nubuck shoes in winter? How practical is that?

Ha ! I have only 1 black mutt that I only come in contact with when I have the appropriate dog attire. If he steps on ANY of my shoes they’d be ruined by its hoofs.

Unfortunately the reception i get when i come home from the office is too cute to think about my attire! But i have been known to squeel ‘down down mummy is wearing Loubs”

The color is a little ehhh. Is it white or is it gray? I think it would look better in patent. And I really don’t like the stacked heel. Maybe if it was lacquered. I do like the shape of the shoe, though.

I would have those dirty in the first ten minutes of wear, but they do have that nice real Barbie quality to them.

i love white shoes, but NUBUCK?

    COME ON Joe Zano…really???

On the fence. White shoes remind me of my Easter’s as a little girl. Big poufy dress, little white purse, white hat, and white Mary Jane shoes with lacey socks.
I just don’t know if want to do white shoes as an adult.

Not a fan of white shoes…but the shape is pretty. Of course, totally unwearable heel for me…

  • shueaddict

the whole design is timeless, too bad you can actually only wear them once (and that is if you are really really careful)

  • Stylista

Wow, that is so gorgeous! It’s modern because of how stark the white is, polished because of amazing heel, and classic because of the shape. Naughty nurse…nah, more like one sophisticated nurse!
