Unless you live a glamourous, very well-financed lifestyle, spending in the high three or low four figures for a pair of glitter-dunked party shoes might not be in the cards for you. The most dazzling shoes are often the least cost-effective and functional, and gold glitter stilettos in particular can probably on be brought out only once or twice a year, at the most, for the average shoe lover.

When the shoes cost less than $100, as opposed to $1000 for a pair of glitter-dunked Louboutins, the expense seems much more reasonable. The Steve Madden Haylow Sandals have a surprisingly designer-esque look to them without directly ripping off any one shoe or brand, and if you want to justify having a pair of unapologetically glitzy shoes in your closet, this is a great way to do it.

I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with Steve Madden. Despite his penchant for ripping off more talented designers, his shoes often represent the best of the “cheap shoe” market along with Sam Edelman and Jeffrey Campbell. His place in the footwear market is important, and occasionally, his shoes are great. This is one of those times.

The lines of this design are uncomplicated and classic, which makes the abundant shine the star of the show. The shoe has enough straps to be sex but few enough to still be relatively timeless, although the platform shape is very “now.” For the price, you won’t find a better pair of shoes to wear on New Year’s Eve. Buy through Nordstrom for $89.95.

I love them. The platform means that they aren’t too dainty, the shape is classic, and the gold glitter is festive.

I’m usually not a fan of Steve Madden and the way he rips off designer shoes, but these are actually pretty cool. I could imagine pairing them with a bunch of outfits.

I really really like them. They are so quaint. Plus for that price who cares who he is ripping off?

Spot on, Amanda! This shoe is a nice mix of Miu Miu and Jimmy Choo – and I would not cry if anyone spilled mulled wine over them. I do not mind cheaper brands taking inspiration from high end designers but I cross the line at the full design rip off.

Well, you can’t go wrong with shoes like these! Steve Madden sometimes gets it all wrong, but this is nice.

I generally consider Madden shoes to be cheap, but these definitely have sass factor intermingled with a classic beauty. The t-strap is killer. Love them.
