We’ve all heard Coco Chanel’s old advice that you should always remove one thing before leaving the house. It’s supposed to ensure that your look stays natural and never crosses the line into “overdressed,” but mostly it just makes Coco sound like a party-pooper. I’ve never been a big fan of that saying, particularly since it so often doesn’t apply. That being said, I really wish Cole Haan had listened to Mademoiselle Chanel during the design process of the Cole Haan Air Violet Paisley Printed Leather Pumps.

At first I didn’t even notice the embossed texture on this shoe’s nude leather, but after reading the name and taking a closer look, I really couldn’t deny the existence of the seriously unappealing embossed texture anymore. Coco, for her part, is probably up in fashion heaven saying, “I told you so.”

Without the paisley, this shoe would have been nearly pristine. The nude color is on-trend and totally wearable, and the delicate perforated trim and bow provide texture without making the shoe unwearable for everyday. A higher heel might have been trendier, but at this height, a variety of women will be able to wear it to work. If only I could unsee the paisley…Buy through Saks for $328.

I totally didn’t notice the paisley print. Yes, it’s a bit much with it. I wish Cole Haan would make their heels higher, why is it so hard to find cute and comfortable heels?!

I may be one of the few, but I LOVE the paisley on the shoe. It gives the shoe leather a little more texture. I guess it’s not surprising that I love all Valentino bags.

The paisley on nude looks like fingerprints.

Hm…you’re right! It does throw the shoe off. I wouldn’t have noticed it until you mentioned it!

great for work if your a boring, (no work fantasy) secretary!

They are the kind of shoes my grandmother would pick out for me to wear to the ‘disco’ as she still calls it.

I tried this shoe on at Bloomingdale’s and stand my ground. I love this shoe. It’s a bit out of by shoe budget and would prefer a patent leather, but this is the perfect shoe for me and would go with everything in my wardrobe!

I don’t remember which designer but I have definitely seen something similar? Stuart Weitzman? Valentino? Dior?

  • Rachel

I could actually do without the bow also. I had to go to the Saks site just to see the paisley! But why are they called “Violet”?

I am not a fan of nude shoes because I am a black woman. I just don’t like the way that they look against my skin. IF these were in another color, they would be on my wish list. I say wish list because I could never justify the price to my husband. Even as a teacher, I couldn’t stand on my feet in this shoe all day.
