Real talk: Versace and I have had our disagreements in the past. Mostly about handbags. For some reason, the brand just hasn’t been able to translate their louche, European sex appeal into any bags that I really must have in my closet. Luckily for them, sexuality is easier to translate in shoe form.
Because of prior run-ins with Versace bags that I hated, I didn’t expect to love any of their shoes – I was wrong. I adore the Versace Patent and Suede Boots so much that I can almost imagine them on my feet as we speak. Everything about them is perfect – the punchy purple color, the combination of materials, the high-gloss finish on the contrasting silver heel, the covered platform. I want them in my possession immediately, if not sooner.
Some of you may hate me for saying this, but forget Louboutins – if I had to spend a thousand dollars on a pair of fantasy shoes right now, they’d be Nicholas Kirkwood or this particular pair of Versace boots. I can’t resist the space-age look, but the saturated color keeps the shoe from crossing too far into science fiction territory. These boots will look utterly chic when cold weather kicks in – wear them with tights to show them off. Buy through Luisa Via Roma for $1088.
